American Institute of Architects (AIA) Huron Valley Chapter Awards Three U-M Scholarships
21 January 2008
University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning has announced three scholarship awards from the Huron Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the 2007-08 academic year—Elizabeth Zorza, Nicole Allen, and William P. Wilson.
Graduate architecture student Elizabeth Zorza grew up in Southeast Michigan, and obtained her bachelor of science in architecture at the University of Michigan in 2004. Zorza was chosen for her academic excellence as well as her contributions to community and professional volunteer activities. As an undergraduate she was president of American Institute of Architecture Students. While an intern architect at Van Goor Architects, a local (Ann Arbor) architecture firm, she was active in AIA at the local, regional, and national levels.
AIA Huron Valley also provided two scholarships at the undergraduate level to architecture seniors Nicole Allen, from Los Angeles and William P. Wilson who grew up in Flossmoor, Illinois near Chicago.
The scholarships were jointly funded by the AIA Huron Valley and AIA National. Through scholarships, mentorships, and other collaborative programs with architecture students, AIA Huron Valley and U-M Taubman College hope to enhance connections between architecture programs and professional practice in an effort to insure the quality of both.
