Endcaps in place. Basically no
sleep for Team MiSo* last night. Two
students fell asleep under the house while they
were working. It
resembles a disaster area and we are expecting
FEMA to arrive at any
moment. Scramble continues, and we remain optimistic.

MiSo* On the Mall At
12:01 a.m., Thursday, September 29, competition
organizers cut the solar village ribbon and
the Canadian Solar Team big rig rolled across
to open the house construction period.
About 12:45 a.m., the three MiSo* pickups made
their way down from the staging area and were
backed up into our site, 110 Decathlete Way,
directly adajacent to the Smithsonian Metro
Stop. The team successfully situated the modules
2–4" from each other by about 2:30 a.m.
and then went home for the night.
The team was back on the Mall to unload the equipment trucks arriving between
8–9:00 a.m. A bright and sunny day with temperatures in the mid 70s greeted
the weekend's peak construction crew as they spent the rest of the day connecting
modules and setting up interiors.

MiSo* Travel Preparations MiSo* can be customized to accommodate the needs of its users. The building program, building envelope and interior finishes can be modified depending on context (i.e. climate) and user preferences. The modularity allows for efficient shipping, rapid assembly and ease of expansion.

91505 MiSo* Travel Preparations
The MiSo* transport concept is to tow five or six independent house modules to Washington D.C. behind standard non-commercial vehicles. This is important because it utilizes the full potential of monocoque construction. The modules were built directly on specially fabricated trailers.

91505 MiSo* Travel Preparations A double-layered facade uses corrugated sheet metal to create a structurally insulated panel (SIP) which doubles as a thermal cavity assisting in passive air movement. Exterior materials include translucent wall material to illuminate the interior spaces while providing a dynamic facade.

91505 MiSo* Travel Preparations The MiSo* team is utilizing the rich and diverse automotive design and manufacturing infrastructure of our local metro Detroit, Michigan area to revolutionize the construction techniques of the building industry. The house is being assembled in the Art + Architecture parking lot.
