Admissions
Admission to the Doctoral Program in Architecture to pursue the Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees is limited to the Fall term only. The admissions process is highly selective, admitting a maximum of 10 students each year.

NEW! - We recommend beginning the application process well in advance of the December 15, 2007 deadline.

The deadline is the date by which all application materials must be received. Your completed online application and supporting documents (including academic records/transcripts, test scores, and letters of recommendation, etc.) should be submitted early enough to arrive two to three weeks prior to the deadline.
Early submission may avoid unnecessary delays.


Admissions Eligibility:

1. A professional degree in architecture, or a master's degree in any field, accompanied by a bachelor's degree in architecture or a related field, or other evidence of the applicant's commitment to the discipline of architecture such as a reasonable amount of work experience in architecture
2. Undergraduate grade point average of 3.3 (B+) or better
3. Graduate grade point average of 3.5 or better
4. Statement of Purpose

6. Letters of Recommendation (3-required)
7. GRE scores (required)
8. Examples of work by applicant
9. TOEFL (required for applicants whose native language is NOT english).

How to Apply
The Doctoral Program in Architecture is part of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies who is the overall administrative unit for graduate programs and works in conjunction with 17 schools and colleges to recruit applicants, administer the admissions process, and serves students through the final stages of degree attainment.

The Rackham application must be submitted online by December 15 for Fall 2008 admission consideration. All supplemental materials must be postmarked by December 15. We request that applicants make their best effort to include all materials in one package.

Notification of Acceptance Timeline
When your application and application fee have been received by the Rackham Graduate School you will receive an Acknowledgement Email. This email will confirm receipt of your application and provide you with your U of M ID number. It will also inform you on how to check your application status online via Wolverine Access.

The Web App Status system enables you to verify your application data, view the application decision, and accept or decline (with a reason) an offer of admission.

Applicants who have been recommended for admission are notified by the department and the Rackham Graduate School by mid-February. Only the written notice from the Dean of the Graduate School constitutes approval of admission.
