A personal computer is an essential tool for learning and professional work in the College and the College strongly recommends that you have a computer to bring with you for your course and studiowork. Beyond this, the College believes there is value to owning a machine in areas such as the ability
to research a topic within studio or a group meeting, to configure a project and tools cumulatively into an effective workspace, and to never have to wait for a machine. College students surveyed Winter 2005 also recommend a personal computer as "essential"; additional student responses from the survey are noted in the student comments section. For the University as a whole, over 90% of incoming students own a computer. Advice on including a computer purchase as part of a package through the Office of Financial Aid is in its FAQ.
