MOVE-IN, START OF SCHOOL TRAFFIC IMPACTS
The official U-M residence hall move-in begins Wed. Aug.29th. The increased traffic this activity brings along with several area street construction projects may create traffic delays, including with buses. Transit officials remind us that delays are probable throughout the next two weeks.
MOVE-IN STREET ADJUSTMENTS
Wednesday (Aug. 29) through Friday (Aug. 31) a number of streets and parking lots will be impacted by residence hall move-in. Among these changes are re-routing of traffic on Ann Street to one-way eastbound and on Observatory to one-way southbound. Additional adjustments can be viewed at the University Housing’s website at http://www.housing.umich.edu/moveinfall/staff.html Please make every effort to avoid traveling near the residence halls this week.
BUS DELAYS
Managers with the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority and U-M Parking and Transportation Services are advising that several local street construction projects as well as significant increases in vehicle traffic may create delays in bus service. Both departments are adding more buses to respond to increased passenger volumes but slow-moving traffic will impact service times. Please plan accordingly.
US-23 UPDATE
From the Michigan Department of Transportation, construction on US-23 between Milan and Dundee in Monroe County currently is behind schedule. It is anticipated that a single lane closure will be needed into fall. This will impact motorists traveling over the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend and will impact motorists traveling to Ann Arbor for University of Michigan home football games. MDOT would like to remind motorists to plan extra time and drive with caution when traveling on US-23 during these special event weekends.
