  Nicholas I Statue
The equestrian statue of Nicholas I, 1856–59 was designed by Auguste Ricard de Montferrand and sculpted by Peter K. Klodt. A double-headed eagle on the statue's pedestal is inscribed "To Nicholas I." The statue is notable for having only two support points: the rear legs of the horse.
