This book is a documentation of the work of the 2005 Winter studio of the Master of Urban Design program at the Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning atthe University of Michigan.

Detroit has been de-urbanizing itself because of the social and economic issues associated with the metropolitan region resulting in a dilapidated physical infrastructure. These forces, acting in vicious cycles, have led to Detroit's decline from a past so glorious and all other things depressing...

At this crucial juncture of time, it becomes imperative to study the various dynamics involved so as to optimistically attempt a response to Detroit and devise a more sustainable approach for its growth...from the ashes.
